FREE-RANGE HUNTING

SQO prides itself on offering completely free-range, low-fence hunting safaris for a wide variety of plains game, including kudu, nyala, and bushbuck, among others. With several concessions that make up over 140,000 acres, you will be able to experience the true scope of what Africa has to offer. This free-range hunting is a must for any avid hunter seeking the complete African experience.

DANGEROUS GAME HUNTING

Having hunted in Africa's 'wild' countries like Mozambique and Tanzania, we offer dangerous game safaris based on that experience. With a number of concessions available, ranging from mountainous areas to flat sandy regions, we are able to provide the complete experience of dangerous game hunting. Whether you are pursuing Cape buffalo, hippo, rhino, elephant, or leopard, we have options that will suit you.

GENERAL GAME HUNTING

Our general game hunting can vary anywhere, from hunting Vaal rhebuck at 8000ft to hunting suni or blue duiker in coastal thickets. Depending on what is on your wish list, we will tailor a package to suit your needs. Our general game, such as impala, kudu, blesbuck, nyala, warthog, and zebra, is usually hunted in our free-range areas. Our more specialised game, such as sable, roan, and lechwe, is hunted in one of our concessions, which are typically 4000 acres or larger.

OUR STORY

Outfitter and Professional Hunter Mark Comins has been hunting for as long as he can remember. He grew up hunting the wild free-range cattle ranches for kudu, nyala, and bushbuck. After school, he would spend every last second baiting bushpigs on a family friend’s corn farm. Mark has always been an avid hunter.

Due to his passion for hunting, Mark has based SQ Outfitters back where he grew up, in the free-range cattle ranches of KwaZulu-Natal.

Building on his hunting experience, Mark spent his first few years as an apprentice in Limpopo and Mozambique. He also did some filming work in Tanzania and parts of South Africa between hunts. However, he realised that the filming side wasn’t for him, so he refocused on guiding. He worked as a freelance professional hunter, eventually joining forces with a company. Now, Mark is concentrating on his own company, Safari Quest Outfitters.

When Mark is not hunting, he spends time working out new bullet loads for his long-range rifles, striving to make his big bores shoot less than a MOA. Additionally, he assists farmers in the area with varmint control.

PRICING

Safari Quest Outfitters (SQO) offers a wide variety of African species, ranging from the smallest critters like blue duiker and suni to the largest of the Big 5. Our package includes a licenced professional hunter, trackers, skinners, and fully equipped hunting vehicles.

We provide full board accommodation with beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, with a focus on local wines and beers. Additionally, we offer field preparation of trophies, laundry service, and all necessary general game permits.

‘Hunting in Africa is hard let alone Bow hunting in Africa. Before my very first safari I felt I knew what I was getting into but boy was I wrong. A PH can make or break your hunt.
