OUR CREW

Harry Kitney, 30

Harry grew up totally hooked on hunting and fishing- if it moved, he wanted to chase it. He kicked off his career with an apprenticeship in 2014 and hasn’t looked back since, guiding hunts for the Big Five all over Africa. When he’s not out hunting, he is probably in his reloading room prepping ammo or helping farmers deal with pesky problem animals. Harry lives and breathes the outdoors, and there’s no one more game to get out there and get stuck in.

Matt Maartens, 38

Matt’s been in the hunting game since he could walk, growing up in the mountains of KwaZulu-Natal chasing just about everything that moves. From game to wing shooting, his passion is next level- and it shows! Each season, Matt helps pull in some incredible trophies, from the tiniest critters to the real giants, all with a big grin and a joke ready to go. He’s the kind of guy who keeps spirits high and rifles steady – a true legend to have on the team.

Noah Maartens, 22

Noah is our up-and-coming apprentice, and he’s quickly making a name for himself in the hunting world. His love for the bush and strong passion for conservation are what brought him into the industry – and he hasn’t looked back. Every day out here is a new adventure, and Noah’s soaking up everything he can. He’s especially drawn to the thrill of hunting buffalo and bushbuck. With his work ethic and attitude, Noah’s well on his way, and we’re excited to see him step up as a junior PH in the near future.

Mfanafuthi ‘Fana’s’ Thango, 43

Mfanafuthi is our head tracker and skinner- and with over 23 years of experience, he’s the man who keeps everything running smoothly in the field. Born and raised in Dundee, he started tracking at just 20 years old and has worked with everything from the Big Five to plains game. Fana’s is all about respect, honesty, and staying sharp- qualities that make him not only great at his job but a true role model on the team. He’s an absolute powerhouse and a truly invaluable part of our crew.

Khipayiphi ‘Pipe’ Moya, 37

Pipe has been in the game since he was 15 – from game capture and culling to hunting, he’s done it all. With years of hands-on experience, he’s become one of the most trusted and sought-after guys in the industry, and we’re lucky to have him on our team. At 37, Pipe is not only a skilled hunter but a respected figure in his Zulu community, proudly owning over 100 cows and goats. Whether he’s deep in the bush or hauling out trophies from places no vehicle can reach, Pipe does it all with a grin. He’s always making sure every track, every skin, and every detail is done right.

Sabelo 'Michael' Mchunu, Chef, 27

My passion for the culinary arts began in 2024. I trained at the Golden Horse Rockafellas hotel in Pietermaritzburg and honed my skills further at Hamblins Catering. Although I once dreamed of working on a cruise ship, joining Safari Quest Outfitter has been a dream come true. Here, I get to cook in a dynamic, adventurous setting while working with people from diverse backgrounds. This journey has deepened my skills, broadened my perspective, and strengthened my love for food and teamwork.
